Acer is a global giant in engineering desktop and laptop computers, and since
they were founded in 1976 they have sold over 50 million systems. Acer has
led the way with innovations in mobile computers and their product lines still
define the forefront of the field. The versatile TravelMate notebook computers
are equipped with moderate specs in the range of a 1.5- to 2-GHz Intel Pentium
M CPU, but what sets it apart is that you can swivel its large LCD panel 180
degrees to the back and lock for giving presentations. You can also use the
screen as a Tablet PC, so the options are extensive for practical applications.
Acer's other up and coming line of laptops is the Aspire, which is more on the high end. Looking ahead to 64-bit operating systems it runs on an AMD Turino 64 processor. This is really a multimedia powerhouse with more RAM, graphical processor speed, and built in DVD and stereo sound. Getting connected to a wireless network is also easy with its equipped IEEE 802.11g ethernet antenna. This feature is integrated into the operating system, so it will scan and automatically connect to a open network.
The real sports car of the Acer laptop computers is the Ferrari 3000, making
a statement about its performance and style. It is the classic cherry red
Ferrari color of the real high performance sports car and it bears the same
emblem as the head-turning street racer. Of course geeks could care less
about gloss and glamor like that, but they'd be quite enticed by the large
15" SXGA+ TFT color LCD screen, the 128 MB ATI Mobility 9200 Radeon,
and the large (for laptops) 60 GB hard drive. It is a large machine but only
about an inch thick and weighs 6 pounds, so it has sleek curves for the road.
